We at Oranbega Retreat Center want to make sure you keep up with the full slate of free upcoming events! There’s something for everyone!
Please note all times are Eastern.
- Friday-Saturday March 12-13b“My Tongue-Tied Muse” Online Writing Workshop at Oranbega Retreat Center.
- All writers in all genres are invited to a two-day on-line event designed to put an end to writer’s block and get the creative juices flowing again. “I think good thoughts, whilst others write good words,” lamented none other than William Shakespeare. If the Bard himself can speak of his “Tongue-tied Muse” (Sonnet 85) then there’s hope for all writers! On Friday at 7 p.m. participants will gather to share a poem or other writing of their Muse– someone who inspires them to write. In honor of Women’s History Month, this Muse should be female. Other fun writing exercises will set the participants up for a day-long event starting at 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Six hours of writing time (on or off-line) will be punctuated by 3 opportunities to check in to share challenges and encouragements: at 9 a.m., 12:30 and 4:p.m. Following a dinner break, the group will reconvene at 7:00 p.m. to celebrate “With Untied Tongues” what they have produced that day. The program is free and open to all by registration. On tregistration you will recieve a link to the Zoom meeting which will be good throughout both days.
- Sunday March 28: Women’s History Month Celebration
We will celebrate the life, poetry, and essays of Clarine Coffin Grenfell, who owned this property at the end of the last century and operated the Grenfell Reading Center here. Part of the musical celebration will include the acapella women’s chorus Fire, led by composer Linda Hanson.
- Thursday, April 22: Celebrating International Earth Day
Featuring the paintings of Robert Phipps and the environmental sculpture and art installations of David Allen, as well as others.
